Transfer rolls are used in high-speed paper machines for a web transfer between individual presses and between the PM press and drying part. Their main advantages are reduction of drawing forces and enhanced work safety during web threading.

There are two types of transfer rolls available according to their design:

Wet transfer roll

• Installed inside the press part for a web transfer between individual presses, used materials: stainless steel

Dry transfer roll

• Used for a web transfer from press part to drying part, used material: structural steel

The rolls are available with diameters up to 600 mm and length up to 5.000 mm.

Main parts

• Chamber with flange on drive side for connection to vacuum source
• Blind-bored surface
• Longitudinal guides controlled pneumatically
• Side stoppers for suction width adjustment
• Low-pressure shower for lubrication of longitudinal guides (on wet transfer roll)
• Retractable pulley for disassembly of roll chamber
• Air distribution into hoses for load control of longitudinal slides
